Vaccine Information
Puppies
- Puppies should have vaccines done at 6, 9, 12, and 16 weeks of age and then at least once a year afterwards. They should have a physical checkup, heartworm test, fecal exam to test for internal parasites, and their DHPP, Rabies, and Kennel Cough vaccines. For more information about any of the viruses below please click on the highlighted text.
- At 6 weeks they receive their DHPP vaccine. This vaccinates against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza viruses.
- At 9 weeks they receive a second series of DHPP which boost the first and if it is a larger breed puppy they may also receive the Leptospirosis vaccine.
- At 12 weeks they receive a third DHPP vaccine to boost the first two and also their first Bordetella/Kennel Cough vaccine.
- Finally at 16 weeks they receive their final DHPP, Rabies, and Bordetella/Kennel Cough vaccine booster.
Kittens
- Kittens should have vaccines done at 6, 9, and 12 weeks of age and then at least once a year afterwards they should have a physical checkup and their FVRCP, FelV, and Rabies vaccines.
- At 6 weeks they receive their FVRCP vaccine. This vaccinates against Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia.
- At 9 weeks they receive their FVRCP booster and their FelV vaccines and FIV vaccines for outdoor cats. FelV vaccinates against Feline Leukemia Virus and FIV vaccinates for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.
- Finally at 12 weeks they receive their final FVRCP booster and final FelV booster, and their Feline Rabies vaccine.
